Right now I am embarking on a classic piece of adult vampire romance literature. Maggie Shayne’s Embrace the Twilight is part of her amazing Wings of the Night or Twilight series (not to be confused with that atrocious series written by Stephanie Meyer), and is the first book I ever read by her.
The story follows a man who is imprisoned in an Iraqi cave, and his mind has broken to the point where he is traveling distance and time to mind-meld with a human from a Gypsy camp. Sarafina is the name of the gypsy, and she is on the brink of being pushed out of her clan. ‘Demons’ are following the group, killing them off one by one, and leaving two small puncture wounds in the neck. Katerina, Sarafina’s sister, believes that these creatures are following them because her sister has a connection with them. How right she was….
